Seaside Ghost Town

Presented in 2018, within the recently closed-down department store Havens, the project is a reflection and a portrait of the seaside town of Southend-on-Sea, with its struggling high street retailers hit hard by growing online competition, and post Brexit uncertain economic climate. We witness more and more shops boarded up on the high street as major retailers continue to collapse, putting into question the future of town centres in Britain and urging us to find solutions to avoid urban areas becoming ghost towns.
